Our Story

SwitchBack Electric was founded by Jacob Herk with a singular mission: to bring a higher standard of professionalism and communication to the electrical trade in Northern Indiana.

Having worked in the industry for years, Jacob saw a gap in the market. Too many contractors were "ghosting" clients, leaving job sites messy, or cutting corners on safety. He wanted to build a company that people could rely on—not just for the first job, but for a lifetime.

Why "SwitchBack"?

The name encompasses two meanings close to our heart:

  • 1. Technical Precision: In electrical circuitry, switch-loops and pathing are fundamental. We pride ourselves on the orderly, logical flow of our work.
  • 2. The Journey: Like a switchback on a mountain trail, the path to doing things right isn't always the fastest or straightest line. It requires patience and effort, but it's the only safe way to the top. We take the time to do it right.
